Ruskin Bond, one of India’s most loved writers recently celebrated his 90th birthday and to commemorate it there is a book by him on How to be Happy.
For die-hard fans this is one for keeps as Ruskin shares snippets on his childhood.
Coming from a broken home to finding his own ways of coping up and to become one of the most well -known authors of the world, Ruskin Bond has indeed come a long way.
There are several words of wisdom that in some places bring in that chuckle and a smirk, especially when you find that he has shared what makes Ruskin happy too.
He mentions that he loves his early morning cup of tea(As long as I don’t have to get up and make it.)
The afternoon siesta. On a cold, rainy day it lasts until evening.
The book has interesting snippets and his willingness to share his daily life routine or thoughts that do intend to linger on with the reader are noteworthy.
Read a little, write a little. Listen to music. Take a short walk. And if walking is difficult, go for a drive.
He also shares on a particular incident of how he was feeling depressed and he decided to cheer himself with a good breakfast. “I had a fried egg on toast, then strawberry jam on toast, then black currant on another toast. Three toasts followed by a cup of Assam tea, and I was ready to face the world again!”
It is snippets and glimpses of his own life that he has shared that does make the reader, particularly his true fans feel involved.
Like someone who has seen the world and actually read a lot, Ruskin Bond gives practical suggestions to stay happy.
He does notice the increasing number of young people wearing spectacles and asks them to look after their eyes and not become slaves to technology.
It is a book as we said earlier for a true fan.
Mums and Stoires gives it 4 on 5 stars and is sure a collectible.
