Mums and stories is glad to feature this interesting young winner from the North East region. She is ‘Miss North East Bangalore 2016’.
Post her ‘win’ at the pageant organised by North East Solidarity, held last week, Kiyeni Zhimomi shares her journey and talks on having incredible support from her parents.
“ I was born and brought up in Nagaland. My childhood was filled with lots joy and happiness as I belong to a middle class family. I didn’t get everything I wanted but I had all that I needed.
Being the eldest child among five siblings is also a great thing as it helped me even more to be responsible and mature.
As I grew older I realized that I have many more things to learn and experience. So I thought of continuing further studies in South India. My parents had no issues with my decision and they supported me.
I’m very blessed to have my mom and dad always beside me; they both inspired me equally. However my mom is my mentor and my role model. She has inspired me to become a better person. She is a genuine lady, caring, loving, optimistic and has strong will power.
She has supported me in every thing I do and always corrects me when I’m wrong.
I shifted to Bangalore this year for further studies and I’m doing my Bachelor’s degree in Humanities. I was informed about this pageant by my relative.
My home town is at Dimapur in Nagaland. When it comes to differences between my home town and Bangalore it does not differ only in geographical features but a lot more differences in culture, tradition, ethnic attires, food, folk dances, folklores, ritual practices and so on. The fact of India having diverse culture is really a beautiful thing.
Being able to represent my state is one of the greatest achievement ,that I will always cherish in my life. Through this event I have gained more courage and it has helped me believe in myself even more.
I have an ultimate goal of becoming a psychologist though it is a difficult task to achieve. I believe that my hard work and persistence will help me succeed. I want to be a psychologist to help people change their attitude towards life and help people who are facing various social problems.
My parents were not present during the contest but their prayers and blessings were always with me. Only my friends and some relatives were present during the contest they cheered for me and supported me till the end.”
Wishing Kiyeni many more titles and success in life.
