Fantasy, Picture books having layers of imagination should attract young readers and that is exactly what Song of the Asunam, by C. G. Salamander does with the an imaginative tale.
It is a a picture book, a graphic mini novel catering to age group of 6 -10 year olds.
Vetri, a young boy in a far off South Indian village, encounters a mighty beast -Asunam. Asunam the monster is mighty, ferocious, weird and to an extent a bit unappealing too until the reader starts liking him through the story, through Vetri’s perspective. However right through the journey of tackling the Asunam- the monster to accepting him, there is a lot going on and you can find it in the story.

Literally going on an adventure, the book takes the reader to an immersive fantasy world.
Graphical representations, illustrations by Rajiv Eipe are different and it seems to flow into the story as it proceeds ahead.
Published by HarperCollins, Song of the Asunam makes for a great read and gifting option too.
Mums and Stories gives it a 4 on 5
