It was from a long time since I had been planning to visit one of these concerts. But stepping out on a Saturday evening in Bangalore especially at far off locations has become an adventure by itself, given the chaos and traffic on roads. I decided to embrace the adventure by opting to experience a candle light concert.
Candle light concerts in India are there since the last one year or so and gaining more prominence in recent times in the Instagram era.
Relatively unknown musicians play the tracks of the chosen singer or composer amidst candles. These are not real candles but the effect is good, making it Instagram worthy or better still, a memorable evening.
There are different venues ranging from five-star hotels in giving the experience to other spaces. I booked for a cafe/event space – Sabha close to Commercial Street Bangalore. This was supposed to be a SP Balasubramanyam concert.

Seats are assigned based on your tickets like A, B and C. C category seats are assigned to be farthest from the stage. Only at Hyatt, Hebbal, the seats surround the musicians stage and looks more impressive.
Yet I did have a good experience and do feel one can try it out for a varied evening experience . Candle light concerts surely can come under can-do experiences in Bangalore. The musicians were good and played SPB’s popular tracks on keyboard, violin and drums.
Though tickets mention late comers are not allowed, the organizers did allow them until half way through the concert. So that’s a negative side of an already short duration concert.
