It has been roughly around two months since we visited this Science museum – PARSEC- Param Science Experience Centre and our visit to this space was good.
Set up by Param Foundation, the centre has plans of setting up a full-fledged Science museum at Magadi Road in 2025 and this is an introductory experience for Bangaloreans in Jayanagar 7th Block, in South Bangalore.
Interestingly the centre is attracting enthusiastic parents and children since the last few months as more parents are now open to visiting new spaces other than just malls or regular kind of entertainment zones. This of course is more on information and presented through entertaining and interesting mediums to appeal to young audiences.
With more and more museums sprucing up in the city, it is good that Bangalore is warming up to different kinds of galleries and exhibit centres for children.
Tickets are generally required to be booked online and we happened to visit this centre on a rainy day and were initially skeptical if it would be worth a visit.
As soon as we scanned our tickets at the entrance we were greeted by a bunch of volunteers and explained very well on some concepts. You have to reach at a particular allotted time and you cannot walk in any other time.
We would recommend it for children, rather teens and adults who will understand physics concepts. Younger children were also there but they seem to find it a little boring and parents trying to get selfie points at some spots.
There are about five galleries including Kinetic, Illusion and Tactile gallery. Kinetic gallery has exhibits where laws of motion are applied through visual examples. It is not that only those who understand hardcore Science will find it fascinating. There are exhibits which many others also will enjoy but Science students are likely to absorb better.
At some spots one is surely going to be spell bound though spending about 45 minutes to one hour seems a little less engaging and it could be a little more detailed.
There was also a treasure hunt to be done with the clues being given in the cardboard gallery. There was also the digital 3D creation of seeing Einstein – On one side and the illusion of seeing just a skull when you see from the other adjoining end
Overall it was a good experience for anyone who might be interested in knowing about Science and few exhibits are made attractive even though you may not understand the entire concept of Science behind it
Mums and Stories gives it a 4 on 5.
